Zak Taylor joins Chris Dittmann Racing for remainder of GB3 Championship campaign

Chris Dittmann Racing is pleased to announce that 19-year-old racer Zak Taylor will join the team for the remainder of the GB3 Championship season, meaning the Tewkesbury outfit will field a three-car line up for the final rounds of 2022.

Zak has been competing in the series this year with Fortec, scoring a best result so far of third at Spa-Francorchamps in July, the same weekend that the team celebrated podium finishes for McKenzy Cresswell and Branden Oxley.

Starting out in karts, the Brit was a finalist in the 2018 Ginetta Scholarship, making his racing debut a year later after completing his GCSE exams, undertaking a part-season in the Ginetta Junior Championship, and adding the Winter Series as well.

He returned to the series for six rounds in 2020, showing good pace and securing an overall podium, before turning his sights to single seaters in 2021, claiming a victory and four further podiums in the F4 British Championship.

In the off-season Zak tested several cars, including those from the Formula Regional European Championship, British Touring Car Championship, and GB3 Championship, settling on the latter for this season.

The youngster will get up to speed with Chris Dittmann Racing during testing at Brands Hatch ahead of the next rounds of the season on the challenging Kent venue’s Grand Prix circuit, which take place over the weekend of September 10/11.

Zak Taylor

I’m very pleased to be joining Chris Dittmann Racing for the remaining two rounds of the GB3 season. I’m looking forward to working with the Team, starting at the official Brands Hatch GP test.

Chris Dittmann, Team Owner

“We’re very happy to welcome Zak to the team for the rest of the 2022 season. He has shown impressive speed and ability throughout his time in Ginetta Juniors and the F4 British Championship but has also had to contend with bad luck at times too which means his results haven’t always reflected his efforts.

“Hopefully, a change of scenery and a new team will give him a bit of a lift and almost a fresh start for the end of the year. He will also be able to benefit from our successful driver development programme, which has helped a number of young drivers over the years.”
