CDR heads for Oulton F3 Cup finale

Chris Dittmann Racing concludes its 2017 F3 Cup season at Oulton Park this weekend (October 25) with eyes on third place in the drivers’ standings.

Irishman Cian Carey has been a revelation in his debut season in the single-seater championship, and is locked in a three-way battle for third overall.

He’s visited the podium three times so far this season, twice at Silverstone and once more at the previous round at Brand Hatch, but he is still chasing his maiden win. He has tasted victory this season in a one-off outing in Ireland, and has shown race-winning pace for much of the main season.

The 22-year-old lies 20 points adrift, with 64 points still to play for.

He’ll be joined in the CDR garage this weekend by Jonathon Hughes, who will be making his long-awaited debut with the team. He’ll pilot his new Dallara F312.

Experienced campaigner Hughes enjoyed a productive test in the car recently.

Team principal Chris Dittmann said: “I’m looking forward to the weekend at Oulton and signing this season off on a high. Cian’s raced well all year, his first on these circuits, and he certainly deserves third in the championship. We’ve been working hard recently and he’ll have the best possible opportunity. It won’t be easy, but we’ll be going all out.

“It’s great to be able to welcome Jonathon, too. It was a shame he couldn’t race with us last weekend. It will be a learning experience but I’m confident he’ll make good progress in the two races. He’s driven all manner of cars and hopefully he’ll be able to put in a strong performance.”

“We’ve got work to do in the Teams’ championship, it’s close but we’re well placed to secure second place. If the guys put together the performances they’re capable of I’m sure we’ll be able to end on the positive they and the guys in the team deserve.”

Qualifying for the final rounds of the season takes place at 09:25 at Oulton Park on Saturday, October 25, with race one at 11:50 and race two at 14:25.
