Swedish karting star Gustav Jonsson completes Chris Dittmann Racing’s F4 line-up

Chris Dittmann Racing is excited to announce that Swedish teenager Gustav Jonsson will be the third young driver to join the team in the F4 British Championship grid this season, rounding out its entry for 2023.

The youngster started his motorsport journey in 2017, when he competed in the MKR Series Sweden in the Junior 60 class, going on to progress through the categories in the Swedish Championship each year from 2019 to 2022. Last year he competed in the Euro Trophy Series and was initially planning to continue in karts before being put in contact with Chris Dittmann and lining up this new challenge.

Gustav has completed several pre-season test days with the Tewksbury outfit, impressing with the quick progress made during his first single-seater outings on unfamiliar circuits. The teen will benefit from training and guidance from a team with decades of combined experience in the sport, helping to make his transition from karts to cars as smooth as possible.

With the opening round at Donington Park less than five weeks away (April 22/23), Gustav, and teammates Jack Sherwood and Daniel Guinchard will be hard at work to prepare for what promises to be a competitive season of racing ahead.

Gustav Jonsson
“I’m really happy to be with Chris Dittmann Racing this season, as it is a big learning curve, but I’m confident the team can help me grow. Everything is brand new to me, the environment, the F4 car and all the circuits in the UK. Before this I had only tested in one car which was a Porsche GT4, so it is very different to drive, but I’m feeling more at home in the car every time I go out.

“I’ve been preparing for the season ahead with lots of exercise and time spent in the gym, as well as some work on the simulator, to try and learn the tracks before I get there. I’m fully focused on the season and hoping to bring home some good results together with the team.

“I’m also looking forward to working with my new teammates as during testing it is great having Daniel and Jack there to set benchmarks, and I’ve learned a lot from them. They are fast, so hopefully I can catch up to them and we can all be up the front together.”

Chris Dittmann, Team Owner

“We’re pleased to have Gustav join our line-up in the F4 British Championship after he had some really positive test days with us. It’s going to be a competitive field this year, so it’s a big ask for Gustav coming straight from karts, but driver development is our bag and he’s already shown he’s got potential. We’re looking forward to continue working together and helping him achieve the very best results he can as the season progresses.”
