Memorable maiden British F4 victory for Chris Dittmann Racing

Chris Dittmann Racing enjoyed a landmark weekend in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA, recording the team’s first overall victory and pole position at Donington Park (30–31 August).

In qualifying on Saturday morning, Tommy Harfield claimed pole for race one and then led the contest from start to finish in a flawless performance – made even more significant given he had already as good as secured the Challenge Cup title by completing the seven rounds he nominated – yet returned to try and contest the full season.

It was also a positive Saturday for Charlie Edge and Piotr Orzechowski, who quickly found speed after time out of the car. Both gained six positions during the 20-minute contest, setting themselves up well for Sunday’s action.

All three drivers made clean starts in race two on Sunday morning, with Tommy moving into tenth on lap one and ninth on lap two. Unfortunately, contact from another car caused a puncture and his retirement. Both Charlie and Piotr delivered solid drives once again, with Charlie climbing to 15th overall and Piotr finishing 19th.

In the final race of the weekend, Tommy made a strong start and immediately took the lead, while Charlie and Piotr continued to gain ground in the midfield. Out front, Tommy looked on course for a superb double victory, but with just over five minutes remaining he was hit by a rival and spun to 12th. He recovered well to take the chequered flag in eighth place, with Charlie 16th and Piotr 17th.

After achieving its maiden overall Wera Tools British F4 victory, Chris Dittmann Racing will return to action at Silverstone over the weekend of 19–21 September.

Chris Dittmann, Team Principal

“This was a very special weekend for the team. Tommy delivered an outstanding drive from pole to secure our first overall British F4 win, which is a huge milestone for everyone at the team. It was frustrating that contact denied him and us another victory in race three, but his pace and determination were clear for all to see. Charlie and Piotr also impressed on their return, showing strong race craft and consistent progress. It’s a weekend that gives us great confidence heading to Silverstone.”
