Podiums and points on positive British F4 season opener for Chris Dittmann Racing

Chris Dittmann Racing enjoyed a positive start to its season in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, taking two overall podiums and adding a Rookie Cup trophy.

On a warm and sunny weekend at Donington Park (April 26/27), the team emphasised its commitment to developing young drivers, with series debutant Tommy Harfield twice finishing in the top three and leading the championship standings, while car racing rookie Charlie Edge took a Rookie podium and series debutant Alba Larsen gained 15 places across the three contests.

In Saturday’s qualifying session, Tommy set the early benchmark by going seventh fastest on his opening tyre set, then improved to sixth with a strong final lap. Charlie and Alba showed steady progress throughout, ending the session 21st and 20th respectively.

Tommy had a good first lap to the opening race, gaining two places to run fifth at the end of the first lap, while Alba also had a great start, climbing four places. The Safety Car was then called twice in quick succession, and on the restart, Tommy was fourth but with the car ahead having been handed a time penalty, while Charlie ran 18th and Alba 19th after a brief visit to the pits. At the flag, Tommy scored a debut podium, with Charlie 14th and third of the Rookies, and Alba was just behind in 15th.

Race two on Sunday morning, morning featured Alba and Charlie climbing to 13th and 15th, although Tommy slipped to ninth before another Safety Car intervention. A late red flag—called when a car stopped on circuit—halted the race a few minutes early, preserving the running order.

In the weekend’s final contest, all three drivers made clean starts. Tommy briefly ceded a position only to reclaim it in the opening laps, then remained in contention for the final the top three as rivals picked up track-limits penalties. A late red flag, triggered by two off-track excursions, confirmed his second podium, while Charlie finished 15th and Alba 16th.

Chris Dittmann Racing will look to carry the positive momentum to Silverstone, where the F4 British Championship will race on the full Grand Prix circuit next weekend, May 1-3.
