Indian racer Divy Nandan joins Chris Dittmann Racing in F4 British Championship

Chris Dittmann Racing is delighted to announce that young Indian racer Divy Nandan will join the team in the F4 British Championship, starting with this weekend’s trip to Snetterton.

Divy started karting back home in India with Narain Karthikeyan Racing Academy when he was 17 years of age, competing with the outfit two years. He claimed an impressive podium on his maiden weekend in MRF saloons at Madras International Circuit, before moving to single seaters in the MRF Formula 1600.

Demonstrating good speed and continuing to improve, the 19-year-old who hails from Gurgaon, in the northern Indian state of Haryana, wanted to test himself and build his knowledge overseas, looking to Europe and the United Kingdom for his next challenge.

Having spent some time on Chris Dittmann Racing’s state-of-the-art simulator to familiarise himself before heading out on track, Divy has been taking a mature approach to his time in the latest Tatuus T-421 F4 model, understanding that his current goal is gaining experience, rather than chasing rapid lap times.

Identifying the team as a developer of young drivers, including the work it has done with Joel Pearson on his return to racing this season, he is keen to learn as much as he can, hoping to make it all the way up the ladder to Formula 1 in the future.

For now, Divy and the team are preparing for a big challenge this weekend at Snetterton against a field of drivers who are intimately familiar with the machinery at their disposal.

“I wanted to join a team which focuses on driver development, not lap times, as I am here to develop myself behind the wheel. Chris Dittmann Racing has been really good with Joel [Pearson] this year, and they have been working hard to help me progress to become a better driver.

“I’ve been doing sessions on the team’s simulator to help familiarise myself before I get to the racetrack, because there is a good relationship between both the car and the sim, so the techniques are quite similar. It has been nice to use a top-quality simulator to understand how to drive the circuit when you get there. The environment is quite jolly, but they are keen to help drivers learn, progress, and become competitive on track.”

Chris Dittmann, Team Owner

“We had some contact from Divy’s manager recently as he wants to get a taste of the new F4 car and has liked what we have done with Joel so far this year. We put together a proposal for some testing and a few rounds of the season and we’re really excited to work with him and help him progress as a driver.

“It will be a big step for him in the two rounds he will do, jumping in at this late stage of the season, but he’s keen to learn and see how things go at the end of it. Our focus is on making Divy as comfortable as we can behind the wheel so he can gain a better understanding of how the car works and performs.”
