Chris Dittmann Racing returns to British F4 podium and retains Challenge Cup lead at Silverstone

Chris Dittmann Racing enjoyed another visit to the podium in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, as Tommy Harfield took a third top three finish in just six races.

Tommy was again joined by Charlie Edge – competing in only his second weekend of car racing – and newcomer Piotr Orzechowski, who made his series and single-seater debut at Silverstone over the weekend of 1–3 May.

With the schedule unusually offset due to a 24-hour race running from Saturday into Sunday, qualifying and the opening contest took place on Friday under glorious sunny skies. In qualifying, Tommy placed inside the top ten, Charlie finished fifth among the Rookies, and Piotr impressed given his limited seat time.

All three drivers got off to strong starts in Race One. Tommy climbed to sixth, Charlie gained one place, and Piotr ran 19th when the Safety Car was deployed on the opening lap. Once racing resumed, Tommy sustained contact from behind, suffered a puncture and pitted, but rejoined without losing a lap to the leaders. By halfway through the 20-minute encounter, Piotr had advanced to 16th, just behind Charlie; however, Tommy was ultimately forced to retire, while Charlie took the chequered flag 15th with Piotr 18th on his debut.

In Race Two, Tommy fought back superbly, leaping to fourth off the line before executing a clever move to claim third as the frontrunners tangled. Charlie rose to fourth in the Rookies but then slipped back a couple of places, while Piotr maintained a clean, tidy race in 21st ahead of a late Safety Car. On the final lap, Tommy was just a few tenths from the victory, securing his third podium in five races, as Charlie and Piotr finished 18th and 20th respectively.

The start of Race Three was chaotic, with cars jostling throughout the field. Tommy battled for seventh but lost momentum and fell to 13th before heavy contact left him with another puncture, forcing him to stop on track. Piotr enjoyed a strong opening tour, gaining three places, whereas Charlie suffered a slow getaway and ran 19th – the duo then sparring for seventh in the Rookie Cup and 16th overall.

After a Safety Car period, racing resumed with eight minutes remaining. Charlie made a decisive pass on the penultimate lap to finish seventh in the Rookies – usurping Tommy to take the Challenge Cup lead – while Piotr crossed the line ninth, capping a highly encouraging debut weekend.

The team returns to action in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship on 24–25 May, when the series heads to Snetterton in Norfolk for rounds seven, eight, and nine of the 2025 season.

Chris Dittmann, Team Principal

“It’s been fantastic to witness the continued development of all three drivers this weekend. Tommy’s determination has delivered another podium, and his performance under pressure bodes well for the rest of the season. Charlie has made impressive strides in only his second weekend of racing, while Piotr’s composed debut suggests he has a bright future in British F4. The team is in great shape as we look ahead to Snetterton.”
