CDR set for Snett in F3 Cup

Chris Dittmann Racing returns to F3 Cup action at Snetterton on May 13-14, with a four-strong squad searching for more success.

The team heads to Norfolk in good form and with two drivers in the championship top six. Peter Venn sits fifth after a consistent weekend at Donington Park, claiming a brace of sixth-place finishes in his first F3 Cup event. His last visit to Snetterton while racing in Monoposto yielded two podiums.

One place behind in the standings in sixth, Cian Carey set a new lap record and claimed a pair of fourth places either side of a non-finish last time out at Donington. The 22-year-old qualified a fraction from pole, and showed excellent pace all weekend.

Like Venn, Phillip Jeans made his championship debut at Donington. The former motorcycle racer had raced in cars just once before, and enjoyed improvement with every lap in his Mercedes-powered F312 Dallara.

Gino Ussi will make his debut with the team, returning to the championship after an absence of more than four years. His arrival gives CDR the ideal chance to score strongly across this weekend’s three races. It will be the first race of his renewed partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Foundation, too.

Team manager, Chris Dittmann, said: “I’m looking forward to getting back into F3 Cup this weekend. We have had a good start in both F3 Cup and BRDC F3 and we’ll be right in the mix for podiums and wins at Snetterton I’m sure.

“It’s great to welcome Gino to the team, it will take time for him to get used to Formula 3 cars again but Snetterton is a good place for that. He’ll have plenty of support from the guys in the team and also his three team-mates.

“Fortune wasn’t on our side at Donington so we’ve got some work to do in the Teams’ Championship. I’m confident we will have closed the gap come Sunday night, hopefully we’ll have some wins to show for it too.”
