CDR set for continental F3 outing

Chris Dittmann Racing joins an international field this weekend with a one-off appearance in the Formula Summer race as part of the Spa Summer Classic at the famous Belgian circuit. CDR takes a quartet of drivers to join a grid comprising Austrian F3 Championship, Italian and a handful of the UK’s F3 Cup entrants.

Regular F3 Cup drivers Cian Carey, Gino Ussi and Peter Venn will be joined on track by team manager Chris Dittmann for the two overseas races. It will be the second race weekend of the season for Dittmann, who won twice at Snetterton earlier this year in F3 Cup. He’s been a winner Spa, picking up wins in Monoposto’s F3 class in recent years.

It will be Carey’s first competitive visit to Spa, but he heads to the non-championship races in excellent form having scored a breakthrough podium in F3 Cup last time out at Silverstone.

Ussi has experience of Spa, and of the top six. He claimed sixth in class on his last appearance there in 2012.

Venn meanwhile has raced at Spa in previous years when the Monoposto Championship raced on a combined grid with F3 Cup. The Cheltenham racer lists the historic circuit as his favourite so will be hoping for a strong result.

Practice for the weekend takes place at 10:50 CET and on Friday June 23, with qualifying at 18:10. Race one gets underway at 10:15 CET on Saturday June 24, with race two at 10:20 on Sunday June 25.
