CDR looking for solid points haul on Donington Park return

  • Tewkesbury-based team head back to East Midlands circuit aiming to build on recent momentum in British F3.
  • Points regular Josh Skelton joined by CDR debutante Max Marzorati in UK’s premier motorsport series.
  • Highlights to be broadcast on ITV4 in the weeks following action-packed triple-header.

Chris Dittmann Racing head back to Donington Park, Leicestershire this weekend [24-25 October] aiming for another solid points-scoring display in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship.

The Tewkesbury-based team enjoyed a return to the podium last time out in the UK’s premier motorsport series at Snetterton courtesy of Josh Skelton.

The Maryport-based driver returns to the 1.96-mile East Midlands circuit – the scene of his maiden British F3 podium earlier this year – aiming to continue an impressive rookie season in the category with another strong points haul.

He remains a solid sixth in the standings amidst a highly-competitive field, and a strong end to the year could yet see the Formula 4 graduate creep into the top five at the first attempt.

Skelton will also be buoyed by the addition of new team mate Max Marzorati, the British rising star having been announced at CDR for the final two events of the season on Wednesday.

Marzorati has scored points in five of his six career starts to date – including a brace at Donington Park back in August – and will be looking to progress on his debut weekend with the team.

Competitive action kicks off with qualifying at 11:15 on Saturday ahead of the opening race at 14:55.

Sunday features a double-header of high-octane action, with the second and third races scheduled for 11:00 and 13:55.

Highlights of the action will be available on ITV4 in the weeks following the event.

Chris Dittmann, Team Principal said:

“Everybody at CDR is looking forward to another solid weekend in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Donington Park.

“It’s safe to say this circuit is starting to feel like a second home for the team – this is our fourth visit in three months! Nevertheless, having two solid test days pre-event is incredibly useful, and we’re all feeling well-prepared.

“A top-five finish overall is still more than attainable for Josh, which in his debut year is outstanding, so his side of the garage will be fully focused on bringing home another good points haul.

“For Max, the objective is just to learn; he’s only contested a part-season, and its brand new surroundings for him, but the potential is there and we’re very impressed with how he’s applied himself so far.

“If all the pieces slot into place, it should be another enjoyable weekend in Leicestershire!”

Josh Skelton (#43) said:

“I’m looking forward to getting back out in the car this weekend, and looking to turn things around and have some strong results and claw some points back.

“It’s the National circuit this time out, which will be fun, and also a very quick lap time. It will make the racing difficult as there won’t be many overtaking opportunities so qualifying will be key.”

Max Marzorati (#81) said:

“I’m blown away by the expertise of everybody in the Chris Dittmann Racing team; they’re operating at an exceptional level and I’ve learnt so much in just two days with them. They’ve also made me feel very welcome.

“It’s a shame about the rain today, because yesterday in the dry we were progressing at an amazing rate. But even in the wet it’s all valuable mileage in case the conditions stay like that this weekend.

“I know the areas I now need to focus on to keep improving on and am looking forward to seeing where we can get to both here at Donington and then in the season finale at Silverstone.”
