CDR back in BRDC British F3 action this weekend

Chris Dittmann Racing’s (CDR) BRDC British Formula 3 Championship campaign heads to Snetterton this weekend (27-28 May), with the team riding high following a fantastic double win at the Norfolk circuit in the recent round of the F3 Cup Championship.

Team principal Chris Dittmann returns to the pit-wall following his two victories, with driving duties to be handled by the team’s regular BRDC British F3 driver line-up of young Brit Omar Ismail and Kenya’s Jeremy Wahome.

Ismail could be a man to watch on the challenging 300 circuit this weekend, fresh from delivering the Tewkesbury squad’s first podium of the year at Rockingham last time out. Ismail qualified second for the weekend’s opening race at the Northamptonshire speed-drome, and backed it up by leading the second race of the weekend, and only dropping down to second as a result of the car behind’s fresher tyres.

Ismail also has a good record at Snetterton, having won there with CDR in just his second race meeting during the 2015 BRDC F4 Championship. The 18-year-old lies seventh in the championship

Wahome is on fine form too, having racked up a trio of points-scoring finishes during his last outing, including a career-best sixth-place finish in the weekend finale. Ever improving as a driver, Wahome will be eager to build upon his recent promising results to improve his personal best once again.

The CDR drivers will take to the Snetterton circuit on Friday for practice sessions, before qualifying and the first race of the weekend on Saturday, with two more races to follow on Sunday.

Dittmann said: “Snetterton has been a happy hunting ground for us in recent weeks in F3 Cup, so I’m hoping that our success will now translate over to the BRDC British F3 weekend!

“Omar has been in good form recently, and he can consider himself unlucky not to have left Rockingham with a win, so I think he’ll be a factor near the sharp end again. We’ve won with him at Snetterton in the past, so we know we have what it takes.

“Jeremy is really coming on leaps and bounds too, and I hope that his Rockingham result is a sign of things to come. At the very least, I’m sure he will deliver another healthy haul of points.

“Snetterton is different to the two circuits we’ve raced at so far this year, but with high speed sections, blended with a complex infield, there are some similarities with Rockingham, where we ran very well – hopefully a sign of things to come.”
