Chris Dittmann Racing enjoyed a memorable weekend in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA, taking a Silverstone Sunday podium with Tommy Harfield alongside the Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix 2025.
The team was represented by series regulars Tommy and rookie Charlie Edge, who were joined by American teenager Ava Dobson, making her series debut for the pair of non-championship races.
The drivers had just one practice session of 45 minutes late on Friday to fine-tune the car for the weekend. They returned early Saturday morning for qualifying, where Tommy produced a superb lap to finish second fastest, a mere 0.029s from pole position. Charlie and Ava also performed well as they continue to develop, qualifying 21st and 26th respectively.
The first of the weekend’s races took place later Saturday afternoon, with a good crowd remaining trackside to watch the stars of the future. Tommy made a strong start, moving into sixth, gaining fifth, and then taking fourth after a car ahead spun. Behind him, Charlie and Ava were also driving well and gaining places before the Safety Car was deployed.
At the restart, with 14 minutes remaining, Charlie was forced wide at The Loop, losing several positions as he ran across the grass, but he battled hard to recover and crossed the line 21st. Making her debut with the team, Ava impressed by gaining four places early on and finishing seven spots higher than her grid position. Tommy continued to push and closed in on the podium contenders but was unable to launch a late challenge as the race finished under the Safety Car.
The second contest took place on Sunday morning, with Tommy dropping to third off the line. He recovered well after being run wide to retain the position out of Farm, then closed in on the leaders to move into second nine minutes in. From there, he ran a composed race to secure a memorable British Grand Prix Sunday podium finish.
Charlie was again in the thick of the action, taking contact from another driver but working hard to recover and finish 22nd. Ava continued to adapt impressively despite her limited experience at the circuit and in the car, making strong progress to gain nine positions and finish 16th.
Buoyed by these strong performances, Chris Dittmann Racing now looks ahead to another current Formula 1 venue, as the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA heads to Zandvoort, home of the Dutch Grand Prix, in two weeks’ time.
Chris Dittmann, Team Principal
“I am delighted with the performances by our drivers this weekend. Tommy has been quick all season and he nailed it in qualifying, giving him the opportunity to secure some strong results. He delivered in both races and for him and the team to be on the podium on Sunday at the British Grand Prix is a fantastic achievement and one we won’t forget in a hurry.
“Charlie and Ava also drove really well across all three days. We didn’t take part in the pre-event testing, so to go into the weekend with just one practice session before qualifying was a big ask. Charlie was unlucky to be caught up in contact, but he fought back well, and Ava showed her talent by making significant gains in both races. Everyone gave it their best and that’s all we can ask.”
