Ismail rejoins CDR

Omar Ismail will be reunited with Chris Dittmann Racing at the final rounds of the BRDC Formula 3 season at Donington Park on September 10-11.

The Solihull teenager replaces American Quinlan Lall, who is unable to contest the finale due to external factors. Ismail has previous experience of the F3 car having raced in the opening weekend for HHC Motorsport, claiming 12th and 16th either side of a non-finish.

Ismail is familiar face at CDR, winning with the squad in Formula 4 at Snetterton in 2015 before a podium at Brands Hatch later in the season.

He joins season regulars Krishnaraaj Mahadik and Quinlan Lall for the trip to Donington Park.

Ismail said: It’s been a tough year for me all round but I am glad I have this opportunity to get back in the seat one more time before the end of 2016. I have a really good working relationship with Chris Dittmann Racing from a great season last year and hopefully we will be able to pull out some good results like before.

Chris Dittmann, team principal, said: It’s great to welcome Omar back to the team after our successful relationship last year. It’s a shame Quinlan is unable to race especially after his recent form, however we’re really excited to see what Omar can achieve. It’s going to be tough for him after five months out of the car, however we’re confident we’ll get him up to speed quickly. Both Krishnaraaj and Jeremy have been driving well recently so I’m hoping all three drivers can push each other and we can have a strong end to the season.
