CDR signs Tristan Charpentier ahead of BRDC British F3 opening round

Gloucestershire motor racing team Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) has added French driver Tristan Charpentier to its line-up for the opening round of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Oulton Park this weekend (15-17 April).

The 16-year-old joins CDR following a strong performance in the French Formula 4 Championship last year, where he finished fifth in the final standings in a race-winning campaign. His graduation to BRDC F3 for this weekend marks his debut in British single-seater racing, though he has previous experience of competing the country from the Ginetta Junior Championship.

Charpentier completes CDR’s line-up for the opening weekend of the year alongside returning Kenyan Jeremy Wahome, and Brit Omar Ismail, who has previously won with the Tewkesbury outfit. Charpentier will dovetail his duties in British F3, with appearances in the SMP Formula 4 Championship this year, with the full details of his schedule still to be announced.

Charpentier said: “I’m very excited to be racing with Chris Dittmann Racing for the first round of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Oulton Park. It’s going to be a big step up for me, as I’m currently also racing in the SMP Formula 4 Championship. The BRDC F3 car will be totally new to me, and I’m really looking forward to working with Chris and the team to learn, progress, and achieve the best results possible”

Chris Dittmann, team principal of Chris Dittmann Racing, said: “”I’m pleased to welcome Tristan to the team ahead of the opening rounds of the BRDC F3 Championship at Oulton Park this weekend. Tristan is a capable young driver, with race wins to his name in junior single-seater racing, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together with the CDR F3 car this weekend.

“I think we have an enormously promising driver line-up ahead of the first meeting of the season, with Tristan joining Omar and Jeremy, and I think we should be aiming for a very strong points haul to start the season.”

CDR’s British Formula 3 Championship campaign gets underway this weekend with the opening race of the season coming on Saturday 15 April ahead of two more on Bank Holiday Monday 17 April.

CDR has opportunities available for drivers seeking extra racing experience behind the wheel of a high-grade single-seater racing car in the BRDC British F3 Championship this year. For more information about Chris Dittmann Racing or to get in touch, please visit www.chrisdittmannracing.co.uk.
