CDR aiming to bounce back in BRDC F3 at Silverstone

Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) is looking for positive progress on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit this weekend, following a promising start to the season, despite a difficult weekend last time out at Snetterton in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. The Tewkesbury outfit will take to the track for three BRDC British F3 Championship races across 10-11 June, with young Brit Omar Ismail and Kenyan Jeremy Wahome behind the wheel.

Ismail currently leads CDR’s charge in the championship, lying seventh overall in spite of the fact that he’s suffered misfortune at times early in the season. The 18-year-old was a major factor last time the championship visited Northamptonshire, for its second round at Rockingham, and he will be gunning for similar speed to that which almost saw him take his first race win of the season. Like Rockingham, the home of the British Grand Prix includes many high speed sections, so some of that pace could transfer.

Wahome, heads to Silverstone riding high on the back of some of his strongest performances to date in the championship. The Kenyan was impressive in difficult conditions at the same venue last year with CDR and this marks a return to the venue at which he achieved his first top-ten finish in the championship with the team.

The CDR drivers will take to the world-famous Silverstone circuit for qualifying on Saturday, followed by the first race of the weekend. The top eight finishers in race one will be reversed for the second race of the weekend on Sunday, with a third encounter taking place later that afternoon.

Team Principal Chris Dittmann said: “We’re targeting a strong points haul to get things back oin track this weekend after a tricky couple of days at Snetterton two weeks ago. Overall, we’ve had a very promising start to the season, and have shown that we have the pace to fight for podiums and race wins.

“Omar still has a good championship position so we’ll be working hard to maintain that and see if we can climb a little further up the table. Jeremy was strong here last weekend in dodgy conditions and he’s continuing to improve so I’m optimistic that he can continue that trend and fight for more points.

“Our results so far haven’t been entirely indicative of our true potential so I hope we can start putting that right this weekend!”
