Charpentier back to BRDC British F3 with CDR at Spa

Chris Dittmann Racing’s (CDR) BRDC British Formula 3 Championship outfit will expand back to three cars for the series’ upcoming away date at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on 8-9 July.

Frenchman Tristan Charpentier, who made his British single-seater racing debut with CDR at Oulton Park on Easter weekend, returns for just his second bite of the BRDC British F3 cherry. He is to line-up in Belgium alongside CDR’s regular driver line-up of Omar Ismail and Jeremy Wahome.

Charpentier enjoyed a promising debut at the Cheshire circuit in CDR, during which he qualified 16th before challenging hard for points and earning 11th and 12th place finishes at a circuit regarded as one of the trickiest on the calendar. Ultimately he missed the final race as the stop-start weekend’s heavily amended schedule prevented him from doing so.

Alongside his appearances in British F3 this year, Charpentier has also competed in the SMP F4 Championship.

Charpentier’s Spa return is expected to be followed by further appearances where schedules allow. In the meantime, enquiries regarding one-off outings with the team are welcome.

Charpentier said: “I’m really happy to join once again the championship with CDR on this amazing track. I’m really looking forward to having a lot of fun during this weekend and bring good results. I learned a lot during Oulton Park with the experience that Chris and the CDR team brought me so hopefully now we can achieve good results together.”

CDR Team Principal Chris Dittmann added: “I’m delighted to welcome Tristan back to the team for Spa-Francorchamps and I’ll be pleased to see three CDR cars back on the grid again. We worked well together at the start of the year on what was a bit of an odd weekend at Oulton Park, and I’m hoping that we can come back fighting at one of the best circuits on the calendar with our three-pronged attack.”
