CDR set for Spa return

Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) returns to Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on July 9-10 for the second time in three weeks, fresh from claiming its first victory of 2016 at the circuit in F3 Cup.

It’s the turn of the Tewkesbury squad’s three young BRDC British Formula 3 Championship chargers to tackle the challenging Belgian Grand Prix track next weekend, the championship’s first-ever overseas round.

Jeremy Wahome scored his best-ever finish at the previous round at Silverstone, breaking into the top 10 for the first time. The Kenyan youngster impressed in the wet, which bodes well for the notoriously changeable weather of the Ardennes circuit.

Krishnaraaj Mahadik and Quinlan Lall will be hoping to bounce back from a difficult weekend at the home of the British Grand Prix a fortnight ago. Both had shown well in the early season, and were regularly on the cusp of the top six. Mahadik heads to Spa one place ahead of Wahome in the standings in 20th. American teenager Lall is 13th.

Team principal Chris Dittmann said: “It’s great to be going back to Belgium so soon after winning in F3 Cup. Anything can happen at Spa so you never know how it’s going to play out. Krish, Jeremy and Quinlan have shown how quick they are this year so we’ll be sure to be in the mix to try capitalise.

“Krish has recovered from his big crash at Silverstone – which he could do nothing about – and he’s ready to get back in the car. He and Quinlan have already put Silverstone behind them, which was tough on Quinlan because he was set for a great result until he unfortunately collided with the Carlin car.

“To just race at Spa is special, so it would be great for them to get the results they deserve.”
