CDR begins F3 Cup title defence

The 2016 F3 Cup season gets underway at Donington Park National this weekend (April 23-24), with Chris Dittmann Racing determined to retain its Teams’ Championship crown.
Stuart Wiltshire and Tony Bishop remain for the Tewkesbury-based team, with Malcolm Scott joining them under the CDR banner for the new season. The trio will race three times as part of the F3 Cup opening weekend.
Wiltshire will compete in the same Mercedes-powered Dallara F308 that he raced to second placed second in the standings in the 2015 Drivers’ Championship. Bishop meanwhile will be aboard the Dallara F310 Opel-Speiss he drove late in 2015, with Scott piloting the ex-Bishop F306 Mercedes.
The Leicestershire circuit proved a fruitful stop on the 2015 calendar for CDR, as Kieran Vernon – stepping in for Bishop – and Wiltshire finished first and third in all three races.
Chris Dittmann, team principal and 2012 F3 Cup Drivers’ Champion, said: I’m really looking forward to getting our F3 Cup season underway. We had a really good season last year and should have every chance of carrying that into this year. We have stability in our line-up, which has meant we have been able to keep working hard over the winter to ensure we do just that.

Stuart had his best-ever year last season, hopefully he’ll be able to go one better and take the title. Tony just keeps getting better, too, and with Malcolm stepping up we’ll hopefully be the team to beat.

The first qualifying session of the 2016 F3 Cup season begins at 11:45 on Saturday, April 23, ahead of the 15-minute race one at 15:20. Race two, also 15 minutes, begins at 10:45 on Sunday, April 24 before the third and final race, 20 minutes long, starts at 17:15.
