Tewkesbury BRDC British Formula 3 outfit Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) left Silverstone circuit last weekend (11-12 June) with plenty of positives, following a difficult weekend in tricky conditions at the British Grand Prix host venue.
CDR’s drivers put together a competitive showing in a dry qualifying session, with American Quinlan Lall leading the Gloucestershire team’s charge in 14th position. The first race was to be dry too, with Lall rising through the field to take 12th position, whilst Kenyan Jeremy Wahome claimed a 15th place finish, improving his best result since moving to the UK championship.
Wahome improved further still in the second race of the weekend, impressing in a torrential downpour to claim his first top-ten result in British F3. The 17-year-old skilfully scythed through the field from 15th on the grid, in conditions that caught out a number of more experienced drivers, to finish in ninth position.
Lall was unfortunate to miss out on a strong result in race two as well following a storming drive in which he rose rapidly from 12th position to seventh. His race was ended by contact, but he can look forward with a great deal of confidence following a very promising showing in difficult circumstances.
CDR’s third driver Krishnaraaj Mahadik’s participation in the event was limited following accident damage.
The third of the weekend’s scheduled BRDC F3 races was abandoned as the conditions on Sunday worsened following another late downpour.
Team Principal Chris Dittmann commented: “I’m really pleased with how our drivers handled what was a very tricky weekend overall. Silverstone is one of the world’s great driving challenges and we showed great pace in both races, particularly when the circuit was at its most difficult in race two.
“It was great to see Jeremy seal a top-ten result for the first time and, whilst I’m sure Quinlan is disappointed not to have taken more points from the weekend, I think both of them can look ahead to Spa with a lot of confidence. I’m sure Krishnaraaj will be keen to show us all what he can do when we get to Belgium too!
The next stop for CDR’s BRDC British F3 squad is the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium,for the championship’s only non-UK round on 8-9 July. First though, CDR will head to the world-famous Ardennes venue for an F3 Cup outing on 24-26 June.
